The new minimum wage for apprentices under age 19 risks undermining Government efforts to entice employers to hire more young people, a business group has warned.
Apprentices will be entitled to a national minimum wage for the first time ever of £2.50 per hour from October 1, the Government announced today. The new rate will come into effect alongside other increases to the national minimum wage for all workers.
