Economic Drought and the Summer Job Hunt

Normally, students have a chance at finding a campus job. However due to budget cuts and the summer season, most of these jobs will not be available. Many like my self now have to find a summer job to make up for the few months of unemployment.
There are an abundance of jobs available for college students. I however recommend opening up your horizon to jobs outside of retail.
Retail stores may seem like a reasonable job but getting hired has become a challenge for college students. Most retailers would rather hire an individual with a GED or burnouts because of their availability, despite a history of unreliability and a life time failures.
The best a college student could do is applying for a summer internship in their desired career. It may not pay but it will build up your resume and give you the needed experience while allowing you to build connections among influential people in an industry who could help you after college.
The alternative could be for you to call up a friend or contact and have them make a few favors for you. Having personal connections has been one of the best ways for someone to build a career or find a job…

Well thats true that jobs would rather hire people who they can call at anytime but that shouldn’t stop you from trying.
