Now that social media is so popular with all ages, employers have started to look at social media profiles. A CV only offers a limited picture of your employment history and interests, but a few clicks can bring an employer to a rounded and complete picture of you – and sometimes, this picture is too complete!

While you’re job hunting, it’s important to keep your social media profiles as professional as you are trying to present yourself. Here are some tips on making sure your social media profile doesn’t keep you from being hired.

Your profile should be consistent with your CV

If you’re telling employers that you attended university during a certain time period, wouldn’t it be strange if they found different dates on your profile? Even if there are legitimate reasons such as a gap year, make sure that your CV is as honest as your social media profile and don’t share information that makes you seem dishonest.

Keep the party pictures off your profiles

No matter what a great employee you are, seeing only party pictures on your Facebook profile will make employers think otherwise. Some people have this happen because the only public posts on their profile are those shared by others – and other people share those party pictures. Ask people not to tag you, remove the tags yourself, or change your privacy settings so that people can’t tag you in these photos while you’re hunting for a job.

Make sure your language is clean

The workplace is changing and there are more lax standards on language, but in general, foul language is a red flag for employers. They don’t want people who could be abrasive or abusive to customers and coworkers, after all. Keep your language clean or don’t say anything on social media.

Avoid politics and hot-button issues

Some people feel it’s more important to speak out about important issues, but you should be aware of the risks of doing so. An employer who takes your rant the wrong way or doesn’t know that you’re being sarcastic about a new law or political issue might choose not to hire you.

Never vent on social media profiles

Using social media to complain about everyone and everything looks very negative to potential employers. They will quickly wonder whether you would post these kinds of posts about them and your new job if they hire you. In general, don’t post anything on social media sites when you’re in a bad mood, as it can come back to bite you. If you absolutely need to vent, make sure your rant is phrased politely or is locked so only friends can see it, or delete it after you calm down.

Employers are starting to look more closely at social media profiles to see whether the person you represent yourself as on your CV matches the one they will find online. In today’s job hunting world, one small mistake can cost you a job, so don’t give them any excuses to turn you down based on your social media presence.

There’s so much to recommend Bahrain as a first-choice destination for living and working overseas. Manama, the capital of Bahrain, is its largest city, with a population of around 160,000 people. About a third of its citizens are made up of expatriates from all corners of the world.

So just what are the attractions of this small Persian Gulf island state? It’s not exactly a large country – in fact, with an area slightly less than 300 square miles, that makes it one of the smallest countries anywhere in the world. Yet Bahrain’s economy is thriving.

Manama, filled with history and culture at every turn, is also home to the country’s financial services sector. Some 200 financial institutions and banks are to be found in the city’s central business district and diplomatic area. Manama is also a centre for Islamic banking. No problems then for any expat wishing to open a current account. Spoilt for choice comes to mind!

But it’s not access to good banking which will likely exercise the expat mind. Instead, it’ll be the opportunity to chase after the high salary and lavish lifestyle. And to that end, Bahrain’s economy is highly regarded, being one of the most open and diversified anywhere in the Middle East. So for expats looking for a little bit of prosperity, chances are they’ll find it in Bahrain.

Thousands of business from all around the world – many from the US – already operate out of the country, attracted in the first place by the business-friendly nature of the country’s regulatory environment. A string of positive reports in recent years by expert Middle East commentators have tended to back that up.

For example, the 2013 Wall Street Journal/Heritage Foundation Economic Freedom Index listed Bahrain as the 12th freest economy in the world – the highest ranking in the Middle East – and the World Bank’s “Doing Business 2012” report ranked Bahrain 38 out of 183 countries in the world for ease of doing business. In September 2012, the Fraser Institutes’s annual Economic Freedom of the World Index ranked Bahrain as the seventh freest economy in the world.

Little wonder foreign-based companies are attracted to the island. Of course, its central location in terms of markets is a factor, too, along with 100% foreign ownership allowed; zero tax liability on corporate or personal income; and no restrictions on repatriation of capital, profits or dividends. The Bahrain workforce is also highly educated, bilingual and extremely motivated.

While oil and gas production is still an important though diminishing part of Bahrain’s economy, the strategy of diversification pursued by the government over a number of years has led to a remarkable growth of the non-petroleum sectors of the economy. As well as financial services mentioned earlier, other successful sectors include tourism, manufacturing and industrial services, information technology, renewable energy construction, health care, education and training and others.

All of this growth in such a short space of time has meant businesses having to look overseas for the expertise and skills that they need. However, expatriates also choose to come to Bahrain because of its more liberal attitude and not just because of the high salaries on offer. The thriving night life to be found in Manama’s many bars, hotels and nightclubs, where the drinking of alcohol is legal, is just as strong an attraction.

Find out more about the night life on offer in Manama here.

Distance Learning: Opening Doors to Education

Education is no longer about the classroom. In today’s world, where a classroom can be as big as an entire website, contain students from dozens of countries simultaneously, or be focused on the course material rather than the instructor, distance learning is an increasingly popular option. Many people never had the opportunity to finish a degree or obtain a higher education at all due to their location, work commitments, finances, and other factors. With distance education, you can get university credits through your computer.

If you’re interested in upgrading, finishing, or starting a university programme, distance learning can help you learn without the distractions of a real-world classroom. Here are some ways distance education helps you stay in the classroom.

You aren’t completely isolated

If you want to take a course from a university in your own area, you can do that. This means that you will be able to drop into the library to borrow a book, but you won’t need to show up at a certain classroom every day. If you have a day job, you won’t have to struggle with finding a good class schedule.

You can study abroad

At the same time, why study at a local university when your options are suddenly so much greater? You can study at a university in Australia, the USA, or Singapore for the same time investment and without moving from your kitchen table. While the cost may be higher at foreign universities, you won’t need to take trips out there unless your degree requires it.

Residency options

For MA degrees, residencies are a sticking point. A long-distance residency program can allow you to do most of your studying and coursework from home, with yearly visits to the campus of a few weeks in length. This means you can take your holiday time from your job strategically and turn it into a studying vacation.

Friendship is difficult, but not impossible

Some people find that face-to-face interaction with classmates is the best way to learn. You might just discover that you can form a study group, find classmates on Facebook, or have Skype calls regularly with people in your area of study in order to find friends. It will just take a bit more work!

Financially, it’s similar

Distance learning may be less expensive in terms of residency costs (you don’t have to pay for housing), but tuition is often similar. Some options allow you to get free tuition but very little interaction with the instructors, while others cost just as much as a traditional degree but include one-on-one support from an instructor. Plan to spend as much on tuition as you would in an offline degree per course, though you can take one course at a time if you so desire.

Distance learning opens the door to lifelong education for people who might not have had the opportunity to enjoy it otherwise. Whether you’re a mature student, a parent, or have a full-time job, you can experience the joys and benefits of higher education along with the CV benefits without feeling trapped in a classroom every day.

Paige Burton lives in a remote area of the UK, but believes that no one should ever stop learning. An avid blogger, she enjoys posting on various education websites. Visit the distance learning courses link for more ideas.

Demotion, counterpart of promotion, do employees a step back in pay and overtime to retain employment or to create new jobs for young people But you just need to accept a pay cut?

One must legally accept a pay cut?
What if the boss asks for a part of the wages or salary , not collective, to provide secure employment for the company. Not inconceivable scenario in the year 2013. Lawyers in labor received lately more and more questions from employers who investigate what the possibilities are to ask such a pay cut of their staff

Legally would be very difficult because you can not require employees to accept a reduction in salary. Termination of an employment practice encounters less resistance than the open break for less pay or a demotion.

No legal obligation but the moral pressure is often very high
It is mainly the employers in the small and medium-sized enterprises consider to ask for a pay cut of their employees in times of crisis And it goes without saying that with a pay cut, is particularly high in companies of limited size the moral pressure to agree.

It is often very difficult to “say no” in a company with about ten colleagues as the boss hard plays: “everyone makes money if the case goes bankrupt”. Because who does not participate, is soon regarded as a spoilsport and henceforth ignored by other colleagues, especially as by that refusal dismissed colleagues.

Especially elderly solidarity expected
Of course it is extremely painful for an older worker as he is offered a function with less prestige and less salary But according to labor experts can sometimes be very effective in practice as especially older employees to settle for less salary. That way you can avoid redundancies and pave the way for more young people.

It is no secret that labor productivity and motivation among employees often decrease as age increases. It would be a godsend for those employees to go to work or to accept a lower paid position the greater use of wage sacrifices the hopelessly gridlocked labor market would perhaps draw smoothly. And that “new solidarity” we all benefit.

Lower pay in the elderly abroad not uncommon
According to proponents of demotion we need in the Netherlands on the idea that it is obvious that we are going to earn more as we get older. In countries like Sweden, for example, that folder is all in the mind. There are workers between the age of thirty and fifty on their top. Not illogical course, because that is the stage of life that requires the most of us: children studying the house to be paid off , etc.

Demotion still negotiable
It might just be the buzzword of 2013, demotion. Many companies are burdened by the economic slump. Lay off staff, but that is seen as an ultimate and unpopular measure. Wage Offers questions of the staff is of course pain, but employment on a more acceptable way.

Research shows that (older) employees are often quite willing to provide salary provided sacrifices of highly paid managers. One helps the company, and confronts his job and that of younger colleagues. But love should never side.

And of course, an employer can offer sufficient guarantees that a salary sacrifice demonstrably secure the future of staff.

It is a biblical commandment that also fully applies to your resume. Forged testimonials, academic titles purchased or fabricated work experience, will be no fibs to good but outright fraud. Fire there not your fingers.

Decorate your curriculum vitae (CV)
Brightening up your CV in an extreme case can go to the forgery of diplomas that offers legitimate reasons for dismissal. In the worst case can even lead to civil penalties. To this kind of resume embellishment should not burn your fingers.

How legal embellish your CV?
Against other cosmetic procedures in your resume, there are fewer objections:
•    chronic pain, for example, have no effect on the job, you do not have to mention;
• the same is true for a successful stay in an addiction clinic.
Yourself the best present
Also you may find yourself a convenient way of presenting in a slightly better light places, for example if you want to build your success so far with numbers And works not so convincing in absolute numbers, do it just in percentages or refer to rankings:
•    were you in your previous position not the absolute number 1? Stated simply that you were in the top 5 of the company;
• and if you have not worked for the absolute market leader, use similar terms such as “one of the three leading companies in the industry.”

How your unemployment on your resume?
Clearly more difficult when you’re trying to hide for a long period of unemployment or involuntary dismissal . Survey by a German employment agency in approximately 6,000 staff officers in 2009 showed up to 7.5 months without names recruiters notice before it was interpreted as a “spot”. And that once more in times of crisis .

If you’ve been such a long time out of circulation that is virtually impossible to retouch. Lie may in any case. As already mentioned, providing deliberately false information on your resume is a serious attempt at deception , the confidence of the employer irreparable damage. As labor courts see that in any case. Result: dismissal!

And HR managers always complete CV’s requirements and a trained eye for gaps the day, it becomes difficult to hide.

Struck you reprimand to dismissal?
For involuntary dismissal is obviously important why you’re fired:
• your department was shut down, for example as a result of a merger or reorganization?
• your company had sharply cut in the workforce because they ended up during economic downturns?
• is your ex-employer might have gone bankrupt?

In that case there is “Happiness in an accident”: you was not to blame. You can suffice with a brief mention as “termination of employment because of insolvency . ” After all, it is not your fault that you lost your job.

Dismissal by debt
Regardless of whether it came by an apathetic attitude, ignorance or a lack of performance, it does not do in this regard. You were fired, point!
A resume is now limited to the facts and is not much to cover up. Every even contrived assertion or argument only proves that you have a bad conscience and worry yourself therefore (probably rightly). Therefore prefer to stick to the facts.

Removing a spot on your CV (polishing)
Still can somewhat limit the damage and the hateful spot on your resume at least a little polishing. The following three methods are available (or a combination thereof):
•  layout because you chronologically or with a current situation to start a life course, you could choose the order you best performance first popping up and the affair with dismissal if possible only on the second page;
•  formulation: if you’re still unemployed, do not name that as unemployed but as job searching, that sounds positive. Even better, if you make a virtue of necessity and puts a positive spin. Something along the lines of: “make a career switch so as to obtain a new position managent level”. That works a lot more confident, more involved and also shows you are targeting;
• entry: nothing more and nothing less. Look forward with attempts at explanation or justification. In a resume that have nothing to look for and always have a negative effect. And especially if you try to push the blame on others: a lousy boss, bullying by colleagues or general antipathy to your person. Even if it were true: NO WORD ON!

Many employers expect a positive work attitude of their employees. What is actually a positive work attitude and how you can radiate?

Why a positive attitude at work?
Bosses want employees who exude a positive attitude to work. In addition, people function better with a positive work attitude in a team. People who choose to attack the easy way sooner or later by the basket. With a negative work attitude means that you are biding. It is doing just enough, do not take initiative and lazy are also under the category of “negative work attitude”.

Do not be afraid to get your hands dirty

There is nothing as bad as employees all the time shirking their responsibilities. If you get a complaint from a customer do you ensure that that resolved. Delegate the complaint not only, but also keep a finger on the pulse of this customer notification is picked up and if possible a solution. It does not matter whether you’re high or low in the organization. Feel involved in your business and your products and trade accordingly.

Carry Solutions

Acquire knowledge about the company and the field where you are getting into. A job for life has almost nobody nowadays. Become a knowledgeable employee that more and more by his colleagues and team leader for specialist advice is sought. It is advisable to all the possibilities to certify or train to grab yourself Read the annual report of your company. Go to all the meetings and courses offered. Carrying solutions for problems with you within the department suffered from. You will always get more respect. Follow the news and read management magazines. An event in another part of the world can be a huge impact for you business. You can have something to talk and think of solutions. If you start from the beginning of your career you can grow in the longer term than colleagues who are less proactive.

Work together

Do not make the mistake too striking to present yourself. That can everywhere. In most of the functions and in most of the companies you can come only through smart networks and to work together. Work together. Put others in the spotlight as they have made a contribution to your success. That will ensure that there are more and more colleagues want to work with you. Your success is their success. You will radiate that you provide a positive contribution to the company. That like to see bosses You’ll learn the most by working together If you are all alone, it is virtually impossible to create added value for your employer.

Take your career growth into their own hands

Stay proactive and find the challenge. Ask feedback from your colleagues and team leader. Are they satisfied? Own you (with your team) the more difficult issues and try to a successful conclusion. Choose tasks where you can profile you and where you learn. Routine is fatal, because you learn any new skills. Stay challenges that every time a tad more difficult. Most cases you can only learn by trial and error.

Each detergent tested before we at home can do. How do you become a detergent tester? And what are the requirements to be a detergent tester?

The detergent compositions tester
The fridge will open. Behind the door are dozens of bins clearly labeled. In the baking square packs, are as big as a sheet of puff pastry. This is an example of how the stock looks of a detergent tester. Previously many stains, special stains space. Now be ordered from specialty companies.

As detergents tester, you are often working at the Research & Development departments of companies that develop detergents. As detergents tester test the brands that the group develops.

The stains out of the refrigerator described earlier are used for stain removal testing. There are a large number of spots at the same time in the washing machine. They can be washed in different machines, under various conditions. As detergents tester you can vary with temperature, wash programs, amounts of detergent and water hardness. After the end of a wash test, see how much of the stain is gone. So you can judge the washing action.

Shopping during working hours
Usually stains stock, a group next to a room with dozens of washing machines. They are lined up in neat rows, with note papers with codes and names. That indicates which test is being done. Next to each row machines, there is a device graph paper rolls through. A red and a green marker signs a jerky graph. It looks like the registration of earthquakes. These lines give the temperature history during the wash cycle. The detergent tester also runs a real laundry regularly. Take a sweater, a swimsuit and a shirt for example. After twenty to forty times washing looks the detergents tester or the colors are beautiful, the fabric is stretched, and the clothes feeling soft. The clothing for this test washes are simply bought in the city. Be purchased both expensive and cheap stuff. As detergents tester you have a wide variety of clothing this sometimes results in comical situations, such as male detergents tester should buy lingerie clothes.

How do you become detergent tester?

Workers hardly get time to get used to the changes. Changes related to environment, tasks, responsibilities and people. Adaptability means you can continue to work efficiently under these changing circumstances. At companies where regular reorganization takes place adaptability is a must-have feature.

Someone who can adapt is willing to change based on new information or other valid reasons. Ideas or views While his understanding of the views of others and willingness to change tasks and responsibilities very important. Adaptability is important that you know the old easy to let go and need a short time to work effectively to changing business processes. You do everything possible to achieve this effectiveness.

Read on the Internet that adaptability is hardly learning with a workout. Changes would always evoke resistance and therefore it is important that support to be generated within the company.

The system nowadays is organized so that, once you choose what you are going to study, you are bound to that profession for the rest of your life. Frankly speaking, you can always have hobbies that can bring you some extra cash on the side, but your job is your job. That is why each and every person should thoroughly think about exactly where he or she will sign up. Consult someone older, listen to their advice, speak to older students… you do have to ask around a lot, just so that you gather enough info. Only that way will you be able to get a clear picture in your head. When that picture is, as they say, “as clear as daylight”, you are good to go.

In this article, the focus will be on law studies. Actually, there are many reasons why someone should consider this profession, as their “calling”. First of all, just think about how many different TV shows whose main protagonists work for certain law firm have come out after Ally McBeal. 10? 15? There is a reason for that. The need for lawyers, attorneys, solicitors, prosecutors and the like is always around, since the legal system tends to be very complex, and no one can expect from a “regular” person to be well informed.

What does a lawyer do?

My first contact with the law was with a personal injury lawyer from Brisbane, Greg Smith. It was an injury my dad sustained in an accident, and that’s what brought me to this profession. But there are so many aspects of law for you to choose from, so read on.

There are many things that an attorney at law can do:

1 He or she can represent someone in the court of law – this is the first thing that everyone thinks about when imagining their law career.

2 He or she will be asked to give someone legal advice (for reasons stated above).

3 He or she will be asked to check whether some legal document is valid or not (since only a skilled lawyer can find any and all loopholes that might exist within the document).

4 He or she could work for the government thus taking part in the creation of new laws, and the alteration of existing ones.

Of course, no one expects of you to be an expert on each and every detail in the law industry (although, during your studies you will acquire a great deal of knowledge). You are free to choose a branch and specialize for it, depending on what your interests are and what you are good at. This is why you have compensation lawyers, divorce lawyers, lawyers that deal with cases like homicide, fraud, and the list goes on and on. Logically, if you are ambitious and hardworking, you can specialize for two or more different areas.

What will be your tasks?

Your career can be connected to the courtroom specifically, but it need not be. If you are in the courtroom, your list of obligations will cover the following:

Representing various clients in front of the court, or some other government body;

You will have to present evidence that will support your client’s claims, both if you are prosecuting and if you are defending him or her.

You will pick jurors, meet with various judges, question witnesses, and you will have to be constantly concentrated during the trial so as to be able to argue certain motions during the process.

You will be presenting various cases to judges and members of the jury. Logically, you are expected to give a closing statement, thus summarizing the whole case.

When you are not in the courtroom, you will be:

Providing clients with legal advice – this may include telling them to back out, because they have no chance of success.

Analyzing cases and predicting their outcomes – for this, you need general legal knowledge and you have to be aware of the outcomes of many previous similar cases.

Dealing with loads of legal documentation.

Negotiation settlements, since there will be cases where this will have to be done.

Working as consultant in some company.

Skills required for the job

It goes without saying that not everyone is fit for such a career. A person has to have certain virtues, without which he or she will not be able to make it through the studies, let alone in the field. If you are thinking of becoming a lawyer, make sure that you are good at:

Speaking – Imagine a lawyer who stutters, or who is shy. That would not be good, because such a person cannot get the idea across adequately. Only someone who has good speaking skills can be up for the job.

Persuasion – A lawyer is supposed to be able to persuade the audience that his or her way of thinking is the right one.

Reading and Listening – During one session in the court, things happen very fast. A lawyer has to listen, hear, process, and understand everything that has been said, whilst scanning and skimming for written proof of his or her claims. Only that way will he or she be able to win the case.

Providing Arguments – This one is somewhat logical. Only the best arguments presented in the best way possible will be the thing that brings you the advantage during a court session.

There is one other thing that is not related to skills specifically, but is also very important. That is staying completely up-to-date. The law system can change overnight. What you once considered a fact can become a slightly different fact when you wake up the next day. So, prepare to spend a certain amount of time on researching and actively learning.

So, to sum up, picking what you are to study is directly connected to what you will be doing for the rest of your life. This is, as you will most probably agree, a very, very important decision – not one to be taken likely. Be sure to find something more on the subject and explore other people’s experiences and opinions. The more info you have, the easier it would be make a good choice. A career in law has its ups and downs, but it is profitable, and there will constantly be a need for lawyers. So, think about it.

Holding down a job while attending school full-time is a balancing act that requires a great deal of effort and strategy. You’re not alone, however. Seventy-two percent of the 19.7 million students over the age of 16 enrolled in undergraduate college worked in 2011—twenty percent of those students worked full time, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. If millions of others can walk the precarious tightrope of work and school, you can too.

Organization

With today’s technologies and limitless apps, there’s no excuse not be organized. Apps like Evernote allow you to record and save all of your notes, files and images with the added bonus of accessing this information on any device. Type in any important exams, work meetings and all deadlines in your calendar. This information should only be the bare bones of your organizational effort. Next, you’ll want to comb through all 24 hours of each day. Outline homework and studying time, dinner, allot yourself some free time and allow your body to receive seven or so hours of sleep. Plan your day with the disciplinary creed of a rigorous drill instructor.

Prioritization

Managing your time at work and school will require sacrifice and prioritizing your daily activities in order of importance. Communicate with your managers about your class—you may need to reduce your weekly hours in order to make sufficient time for studying and achieve high marks in class. Social sacrifice may also be necessary as well as time watching movies and other entertainment. However, don’t push relaxation and recreation to the bottom of your priorities every day—they’re important to your sanity.

Using Time Effectively

To achieve great grades at school while excelling at work, you’ll need to take advantage of every second. In other words, waste no time twiddling your thumbs. If your work grants you adequate time for lunch, use that time not only for eating, but for studying and completing homework. Your work lunch break can become a valuable period for accomplishing additional schoolwork and allow you to allot more time for relaxation in the evenings (if you have an eight- or nine-to-five job). Think about any other free time during the day? Do you commute to work by train or bus? What about waiting for laundry at the laundromat? Pack this inert time with studying. And remember, you’re not alone. Ask for help when you need it. As the soon-to-be CEO of Ernst & Young, Mark Weinberger, says, “The team is always stronger than the individual.” Leverage your classmates and coworkers to mitigate your stress and help each other out.

Sleep & Nutrition

Receiving adequate sleep each night is crucial to your success in school and work. Do not sacrifice hours of sleep for more time spent on work or school. Pulling all-nighters will cause detrimental effects to your mind the next day. You’ll be more sluggish and less efficient at any task. Don’t think that you can use caffeine as a substitute for sleep. No one is a perpetual motion machine. Recharge your batteries every night to make the most of tomorrow. Also, maintaining a proper diet will ensure maximal energy everyday. Begin each morning with a hearty breakfast.
