How To Become a Tile Setter

The main duty of a tile setter is to lay tiles in different rooms of buildings such as kitchens, bathrooms, porticoes, walls, pools and major floor areas. This requires cutting tile to fit the designated areas, around all fixtures such as cabinets, tubs and mirrors. They are also required to apply adhesive to subfloors.

The job of a tile setter includes multiple functions. Some tile setters may be asked to estimate the amount of tile and other materials by studying blueprints as well as measuring the area to be covered as well as estimate the cost of materials and labor, assist the client in tile and grout selection and place the order for materials needed for the job.

  1. You must at least have a high school diploma. A high school education or GED equivalent may not be required in some cases but a high school diploma demonstrates your reliability and responsibility.
