The best thing you can do in a job interview is to just relax and smile. Your goal is to be courteous and polite at all times, no matter what is happening. The interviewers understand you will be slightly nervous. But you still don’t have to show them that
Another obvious but overlooked tip is to make sure you maintain eye contact at all times with the person speaking. When you avoid eye contact, it looks like you are not sure of yourself and hiding something. Always look the person speaking to you in the eye when they talk to you. This simple act will also make you appear more sure of yourself.
Try to stay focused on the questions that are being asked. You don’t ever want to seem like you are not listening. This is a very bad thing for you as a potential employee. Keep your mind focused on the question. If you’re not sure what they mean when they ask a question then simply ask them to restate it. The chances of you answering the question correctly will go up tremendously when you actually understand what is being asked of you.
Be as succinct and direct as possible with your answers. You can give examples just make sure that they are totally relevant to the question that is being currently asked.
Above all stay calm, listen carefully and do what is needed to present yourself in the best light for the interview. Keep in mind interviews aren’t nearly as bad as people make them out to be. And by presenting yourself in a positive light you increase the chance of getting the job.
