One in 10 graduates without jobs

A total of 19,640 students from full-time first degree courses were assumed to be unemployed six months after graduating in 2008-09, up by a quarter since the previous year when the figure stood at 8pc.

Nearly one in six (17pc) computer sciences graduates and one in seven (14pc) of those completing ‘mass communication’ courses were without a job, the figures published by the Higher Education Statistics Agency showed.

Some 2,975 creative arts and design graduates were also thought to be unemployed at this time, the highest number from any subject area.

In contrast, students who completed medicine or dentistry degrees were all in work after six months, the figures revealed…

    I was in a similar situation with jobs. But then I picked a job in as a freelancer and a pr job is what I am happy with now.
