The tax on bankers’ bonuses will be used to fund jobs or training for anyone
aged between 16 and 24 who has been unemployed for more than six months,
Gordon Brown will announce on Monday.

The guarantee will be introduced immediately after the Government raised
hundreds of millions of pounds more than expected from the controversial
bonus tax.
The Treasury had expected to raise less than £500 million from the 50 per cent
tax on bonuses – but is now privately anticipating the levy may raise more
than £2 billion.
Mr Brown will unveil the employment scheme and a new £125 million fund,
jointly funded by the Government and the private sector, to provide new
hi-tech and green jobs.
Official figures are expected to show on Tuesday that the recession in Britain
finally ended during the last three months of 2009. However, the Prime
