NEW YORK (MainStreet) – The U.S. economy may not be as strong as it once was, but American businesses continue to dominate the list of where students around the world want to work.
Google (Stock Quote: GOOG), Apple (Stock Quote: AAPL), General Electric (Stock Quote: GE) and many other businesses based in the U.S. made up the majority of this year’s most attractive employers for business and engineering students from the world’s 12 largest economies, according to a new report from employment research firm Universum. In total, 28 of the top 50 finance companies and 26 of the top 50 engineering companies were headquartered in the U.S., up from 24 U.S. corporations in both categories last year.
After the U.S., the country with the next highest number of businesses on Universum’s list is Germany, which accounts for just six of the top 50 finance companies and eight of the top 50 engineering companies.
Google ranked as the most desirable company for both business and engineering students for the third year in a row, followed by accounting and consulting firm KPMG in the business category and IBM in the engineering category. Microsoft (Stock Quote: MSFT) and Apple also ranked in the top 10 on both lists.
