Making a good impression on the boss is one of the best things that you can do for your new career. The impression you leave on your boss your first day at the job will greatly affect how your career goes in the future with that particular company. What are some ways to make a good impression on your boss?

Jump in as Part of the Team

One of the biggest things you can do to impress your new boss is to jump in as part of the team. While it is important to learn and observe, being an active learner will impress your boss. It will show your boss that you are not only willing to learn but you can get along and work well with your co-workers. A boss likes knowing that there won’t be office drama when it comes to team projects.

Ask Your New Boss Questions

I have supervised employees that would drive me nuts because they wouldn’t ask questions. I can’t count how many times I had to go back and fix a project or re-do a task because an employee just simply would not ask me questions. Trust me. Your new boss would rather you ask questions than to make mistakes.

While it is important to learn and show independence, it is also important not to mess up on tasks. If your boss has to have you re-do tasks or clean up the mess behind you it will not help your career.
