Top-paying jobs that don’t require a college degree

Bill Gates doesn’t have a college degree, neither did Carl N. Karcher (deceased owner of Carl’s Jr Restaurant chain), They’re in good company though because the lavishly rich entertainment mogul David Geffen and Oracle CEO Larry Ellison don’t have one either.

Most of us will never fly as high as the Bill Gates’ in the world, but we can earn a decent wage, without a degree.

In our highly technical society, there is a high demand for experienced, well-trained employees in the service trades and in technology related jobs. Most good paying jobs do require some post-high school training, but this can be technical training, not just academic.

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics 80% of the top fastest growing jobs are non-academic, technical work such as mechanics, plumbers, health technology workers (CSI anyone…), and computer repair.

Additionally, these types of jobs are more likely to be secure because they’re service related and are not likely to be out-sourced to a cheaper labor force. (ex. People in the States, are not likely to ship their computer to China to have it repaired or upgraded and no one will fly from the UK to India to have their car tuned up).

Although a four-year college degree will help you earn more money and get on the employment ladder in some career choices such as law and medicine, you can earn a high salary without a Bachelor Degree provided you have a combination of extensive experience and at least some advanced technical training.

Here are ten examples of top paying jobs that are listed on CNN.com and none of these positions require a college degree, however, they do require extensive experience and technical training in the appropriate field of work:
