Turbine factory workers seize office over job losses

Workers due to lose their jobs with the closure of Britain’s only major wind turbine factory last night seized control of the firm’s offices.

Between 20 and 30 employees barricaded themselves inside the Vestas building near Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

They are demanding that the Government step in to nationalise the firm’s factory in Newport on the island, which is due to shut down at the end of the month with the loss of 525 jobs.
